About Us

The Thelma Gibson Health Initiative (TGHI) is committed to addressing the comprehensive healthcare needs and educational challenges of underserved communities with attention to the family as a whole.  TGHI’s primary mission is to support and teach our clients so that they may recognize their strengths and become empowered to successfully live, learn, raise children, socialize and work in the community.  TGHI addresses health care disparities that affect quality of life in minority communities and linking community residents with the appropriate health care and benefits through personalized service and advocacy.  Now in its fifth year, TGHI has benefited from the many years of experience in social services and community development of its founders and board and have quickly established this agency as a leader within the community, continuing to change lives daily. 

Through initiatives such as Elder Health Navigation, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and Substance Abuse outreach, education, counseling and case management, the community continues to become healthier, better educated and able to cope with issues that could otherwise negatively impact. Society. We bridge the gap in health education utilizing interns and other resources that save community dollars.  Through dedication, hard work and commitment, our goal is to continue “Building Healthy Minds and Bodies”.
